Controller

Open Mile is a dynamic company disrupting a massive industry. We need financial professionals who are “execution animals” with a proven history of “making the trains run on-time” in a high transaction environment. You should be highly entrepreneurial and be able to help manage the fun and embrace the challenges as this company grows to $200m in revenue during the next 18 months. This position reports to the CEO and an experienced part-time CFO.

General Responsibilities

  • This role needs some vision and lots of execution. You’ll be inheriting on our initial financial and operations platform and processes with the opportunity to continue to improve upon and automate them to help operate at scale.
  • Unlike many traditional finance jobs in software companies this is a very dynamic role where the need to constantly balance the sales and operational needs of each transaction requires finance to learn the business to drive the most profitability and leverage for the business.
  • Industrial strength internal controls, checks and balances with documented SOP’s to support growth in a highly transactional environment (1,000’s of transactions per month) is required.
  • Manage on a daily basis a repeatable, metric driven process for all aspects of the business for everything from revenues to expenses, receivables to payables, managing credit for SMB customers and managing operating lines of credit and other aspects of cash management.
  • Create and deliver accurate, timely and insightful financial reporting as needed on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually timetable.
  • Ability to identify, hires, work and develop a new team as well as willingness to be an individual contributor and get into the detail.

Desired Experience

  • A no-nonsense person, with a high-level of maturity, energy, integrity and outstanding business ethics combined with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Proven history executing in a high transaction environment
  • Transportation industry is not required but a strong bonus
  • Deep understanding of managing transactions with small and medium sized businesses
  • Recent assignments are at manager level and/or are Controller or on a career track for Controller level responsibility. Candidate’s career history should reflect a great track record of career advancement
  • QuickBooks expert including integration with outside data sources
  • Advanced Excel experience required; financial modeling super user understanding of pivot tables a must
  • 7-10 years experience with an MBA or CPA highly desirable. 10 - 12+ years of general accounting experience with a public/private mix
  • Financial Management reporting experience required
  • Well developed time management skills, ability to multi task and adhere to strict reporting deadlines
  • Experience working in a venture capital backed company environment is strongly desired
  • Must have strong people skills, able to provide direction and coaching to both direct and indirect reports
  • Four (4) year Accounting Degree with strong academic record
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills and attention to detail are required

Account Executive

Carrier Business Development Manager

The Carrier Business Development Manager role is best described as Carrier Procurement 2.0. It's a traditional carrier procurement role + new technology + market disruption all while operating an altogether different business model than the status quo within the freight brokerage space.

This role is focused on building long-term relationships with transportation carriers throughout the United States. Currently, thousands of transportation companies have joined the Open Mile carrier network, allowing us to provide carriers with shipments while delivering consistent truckload capacity for our shippers. You will be responsible for collaborating with our carrier partners to help them maximize their revenue, resolve service issues, and manage their receivables.

General Responsibilities

  • Build the Open Mile carrier network
  • Ongoing relationship management with members of Open Mile carrier network.
  • Drive revenue with on behalf of carriers within the network
  • Assist in customer service issues when they arise
  • Collaborate with product development and engineering teams to improve our state of the art sourcing and operations platform

Desired Background

  • 1+ years of truckload sourcing experience
  • Established relationships with truckload transportation providers is a plus
  • Sales/Biz Dev experience (or proof of desire to do such) in transportation industry

Customer Service Representative (CSR)

Customer Service Representatives (CSR's) will act as the front line resource for all operational issues for Open Mile's Carrier and Shipper partners. You will ensure that PHENOMENAL service is being delivered to all Open Mile partners (with a smile). While not expected to "find" new business, the best CSR's are those that help identify ways all participants can grow revenue and also lower costs. Plus, you'll be collaborating with our Product team to bring new features into our product offering.

CSR's job is not a career role. Rather, it's an entry-level position into a hot company in a dynamic and growing industry. We only want people who view this position as the first step in a long career with Open Mile eventually moving into sales, marketing, product or role in the company.

Front End Engineer

  • creating cross browser, multi-platform compatible user interfaces
  • psst... (don’t need to support IE6!)
  • helping develop, extend and champion consistent style guidelines
  • writing modular and high performance HTML/CSS/AJAX/Javascript applications
  • interfacing with product, graphic design and operations teams

Pre-requisites

  • at least 3 years of experience in front end development (flexible)
  • strong sensibility in visual design
  • deep skills in JavaScript, HTML, CSS and developing AJAX applications
